Delete in the app
- 1Open BalanceUp and sign in.
- 2Go to the Profile tab and tap All settings.
- 3Tap Delete my account and read the warning.
- 4Enter your 6-digit login PIN to confirm it’s you, then confirm deletion.
- 5You are signed out on every device and your account is deleted immediately.
Have unsynced offline changes? Connect to the internet first so they upload — or they will be lost when you delete your account.
Option 2 · Without the app
Request deletion by email
Email [email protected] from the email address registered with your BalanceUp account, with the subject “Delete my BalanceUp account”. To protect you, we will confirm the request with that address before deleting anything, then delete the account as described below and confirm by email once it’s done — within 30 days of your confirmation at the latest.

What is deleted
- Your name, email address, mobile number and profile photo (the photo file is deleted from storage)
- Your login PIN (its secure hash) — no one can sign in to the account again
- All sign-in sessions on every device, which are revoked
- Your push-notification tokens and registered devices
- Your notifications and notification preferences
- All your Accounts (personal ledgers) with their entries and payments, which are removed from the app for good
Deletion in the app happens immediately. The data stored on your phone is removed when you are signed out, and completely when you uninstall BalanceUp.
What is kept, and why
Group expenses you took part in
Expenses you paid for or shared in groups, and your past membership, stay so the other members’ balances and history remain correct. They are no longer linked to your name, email or mobile number.
Records required for integrity or by law
Audit records of important group actions, and any information we are legally required to keep, are retained only as long as needed for that purpose.
Backups
Residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited time until they are overwritten in the normal backup cycle.
Before you delete
- Deletion is permanent and can’t be undone. You can sign up again later, but your old data won’t come back.
- Settle up with your groups first — other members will still see the shared expenses, but not your name.
- If you are the only admin of an active group, consider closing it first.
Signed in with Google or Facebook?
Deleting your BalanceUp account doesn’t change your Google or Facebook account. To also remove BalanceUp’s access there, open your Google Account or Facebook settings and remove BalanceUp from the list of connected apps.
