BalanceUp

About us

Money between people should feel simple.

BalanceUp was born from a familiar problem: the running tab at the corner store, the trip where nobody remembers who paid for dinner, the flat where bills pile up. We built one calm place to keep it all straight.

Our story

From a notebook of dues to an app that balances itself.

In many homes, the kirana store keeps a notebook. You buy, you pay part now, and the rest is “written down”. Friends do the same on trips — someone pays for the hotel, someone for the fuel, and at the end it takes an evening of arithmetic to figure out who owes whom.

BalanceUp brings both habits into one app. Accounts are your private ledgers for a shop, vendor or person, with every Due tracked to the paisa. Groups are shared spaces where expenses are split equally or exactly and the app shows the fewest payments needed to settle up.

BalanceUp is designed and built in India by Subha Prasad, with a simple promise: get the numbers right, keep your data private, and never stand between you and your money.

What we believe

Six principles behind every screen.

Accurate to the paisa

Money is stored in whole minor units and every split is recalculated on our server. Shares always add up to the exact total — no rounding surprises.

We never touch money

BalanceUp calculates and records. It doesn’t process payments, hold balances or ask for card or bank details. You settle the way you already do.

Private by default

Your Accounts are visible only to you. Group data is visible only to that group’s members. We don’t sell personal data or show ads.

Works where life happens

Trips, markets and basements don’t always have signal. BalanceUp keeps working offline and syncs when it can.

Fair to everyone

Permissions, audit records and server-side checks keep shared numbers trustworthy for every member of a group.

Simple on purpose

Fast entry, clear totals and calm design. The app does the arithmetic so you don’t have to.

Clear boundaries

What BalanceUp is not.

Being clear about what we don’t do is part of earning your trust.

  • A wallet, bank or payment app
  • A lender or credit product
  • An investment or income tracker
  • A place to store card or bank details
